Buying Domains

Buying Domains FAQ

Commonly asked questions regarding premium domain name purchases:

  1. Please define domain name?

Technically speaking, a domain name is an identification label that defines a realm of administrative autonomy, authority, or control in the Internet. Based on the Domain Name System (DNS), your domain name is your website address, your unique online identity.

And quite simply, it is the address on the web where people will look to find your business, non-profit organization, blog or information site. This address is (yours and only yours), and no one else around the world will have the same domain name as you.
Once secured, as long as you continue to renew it each year, it will be yours, always. It is typically used as your email address, as well. Example: info@ModernGardenDesign.com.

  2. Once I have completed the domain name purchase, how long does it take before I can begin using my new domain name?

Following confirmation of your payment, “forwarding” the domain name to another site, takes 1– 2 days.
Complete domain name transfer is typically complete within 3 business days.

  3. What do you mean when you refer to forwarding the domain name?

Domain forwarding lets you “automatically” direct your domain’s visitors to a different website.

  4. Upon purchasing or leasing a domain name, will I incur any additional fees above and beyond the published price?

Depending on the dollar amount of the domain name, payments go through either Paypal or Escrow.com. If Escrow.com is utilized, there will be a fee of typically 2 — 3 % of the purchase price, payable by the domain purchaser. With PayPal there are no additional fees to the domain purchaser. You will know quite easily upon starting the transaction whether it is set-up for Paypal or Escrow.

If you’re interested in leasing a name for a period of time for a special promotion, etc,  contact us and we will try our best to assist in your request.

  5. Instead of buying a premium domain name, why not register a new name instead?

You can certainly do that but, for a long time now, thousands of domain names have been registered each day and in turn, thousands are being abandoned each day. Why?, primarily because those previously registered names were not good names. They were not the caliber names one needs to be taken seriously in the world of online business. The internet has become a very competitive place and having the right name, can make all of the difference.

  6. Are the published prices negotiable?

The established prices for single domain purchases are very fair. Assuming really good (and available) keyword domain names become more scarce with time, they will continue to go up in price, as they have to this point.

Discounts are given to clients, and domain investors, purchasing more than one domain name at a time. Contact us at info@fortunatedomains.com

  7. Is financing available?

Yes, for most transactions. Please contact us for details.

  8. What are the advantages of having multiple domain names?

Visibility! Exposure! Companies purchase additional domain names to promote their products and services, thereby expanding their reach and increasing their potential for sales. Having several websites connected which offer different products and services, grants much broader exposure and opportunity.

  9. Do you provide hosting services?

No, but we do recommend several very good hosting companies on the website hosting page.

If you haven’t had an opportunity yet, please see the guide to choosing domain names.
